Do You Need Some Oily Skin Solutions? Well Look No Further!Cause of Oily SkinWhat causes oily skin? Well firstly your genetic code which controls your hormone balance. Secondly if you are young, your sebaceous glands can be over active and produce too much sebum, but as you get older this probably will improve. The climate in which you live may affect the way your skin pumps out the oil too. Warm humid weather can cause the glands to work harder.
Oily Skin CareAs far as diet is concerned, there are differing opinions as to how a diet high in fat and oil can affect the production of sebum. One fact however remains unchallenged - the better your diet is, the better your skin will look and behave. It’s the old "garbage in, garbage out" rule. So the best advice I can give is - just try it; reduce the fat in your diet for a week or two and see if it helps. And drink plenty of water! Teenagers find oily skin can be hard to live with. Your face appears constantly shiny, your make up slides off and you are prone to pimples, blackheads and acne. Cheer up! Your skin has one definite advantage over the other skin types, it will not age as quickly and it is less sensitive to outside stresses. By age forty you will probably be smiling! Oily Skin SolutionsSo how do we treat this type of skin? The secret is cleanse it thoroughly but with care as oily skin can be prone to acne. Trying to get rid of the oil without stripping the skin of moisture is a question of balance. Vigorous washing with harsh soaps or cleansers is not the way to go as this will stimulate the sebaceous glands to produce more oil and may further stretch the already enlarged pores. Wash your face in water which is hot enough to melt the oil but not too hot so as to be uncomfortable. Some dermatologists recommend oil based cleansers as these mix with and dissolve the oil. If you follow this approach, be sure to remove every trace of cleanser. I would not use an alcohol based toner as these can actually dehydrate the skin and cause the surface skin to shrink & tighten leading to clogged pores and breakouts. Suffering from oily skin? Aloe Manuka Gel (Acne Treatment Problem Oily Skin) is a soothing facial gel which contains Aloe vera gel, tea tree oil and manuka honey. Oily skin can be confined to the centre panel of the face while the outer areas can either be normal or dry. This is called "combination skin" People with this skin type often have to treat both skin types differently using different products for each. This can be tedious to say the least. It can be hard to find an oily skin antiaging product as most anti aging products tend to be made for dry skins. However the Aloe Manuka Gel hydrates the skin without adding oil so is ideal for mature oily skins. A great way to clean and balance oily or combination skin is to give it a gently steam. Pop some in a pot of boiling water and allow the steam to open the pores (make sure you don't burn your skin though!). Great for oily skin or mild acne. Masks are excellent to control oil especially the clay based ones as these have a blotting effect. There are also good masks that can be made at home from ingredients in your kitchen cupboard. Whichever ones you chose, use them about three times a week and rinse off with warm water using a gentle action. Blotting papers are also good as these can remove oil from the skin even when you’re wearing make up. Blot gently, don’t rub. Don't have a blotting paper? A tissue will work well. It’s fine to use make up on oily skin. Just be sure it is oil free and non comedogenic. And no, not even you can escape my famous warning..... When you go outdoors use a sunblock. Even though oily skin can be tougher than most, it will still age, discolor and wrinkle eventually if exposed to UV rays. If your oil problem is quite severe, Alpha Hydroxy Acids can help as these can help to dry the oil without stripping the moisture from the epidermis. AHAs won’t stop the glands from producing oil but they can refine the texture of the skin by removing the top layer. Use with care as they can irritate, try using them every other day to start with. Makeup for oily skinKeep make up light and use a layer of powder over your base. Even talcum powder works quite well.
